Frequently Asked Questions
Staff Member Interest Info

About this Server: We are still in the Map-Building & Development Phase. This is not a live shard with players, although the server is online for Staff members to login and world build.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Can I be a GM?
We are currently only looking for help developing the game. We don't intend to have an active Staff on the Live Server (with the exception of occasional Event Coordination). There will be a test server to continue improving the game. Depending upon your role, you may have administrative rights there.

Which maps are you using?
Right now, we are about half way done with a custom map, complete with 100% usable ocean. The other maps will likely be used for instance-type scenarios or Expansion Packs. We are not using stock UO maps at present.

What type of ruleset are you following?

  • PvP will be allowed on all of the maps except in the starting/newbie area. A new system is being created to help deter mindless PK'ing.
  • The in-game socio-economy is the most important aspect of the server. Nothing will be implemented that negatively affects the player-run economy.
  • Player housing will be allowed anywhere on the map, but will be restricted somewhat by intentional placement of rocks and other blocking deco.

What do I get in return for building up the game?
Anyone helping will, of course, get to play the game in the end, so helping to shape the game means that you get to influence how it is built. So, if you are a scriptor and would like to see various scripts implemented, you can influence that. Or if, for instance, you like to role-play Dwarves...you can help build the dwarven homeland. All volunteers will be given a painting with their name on it in the Great Hall and will be allowed to keep one for personal display in their home once the server is live. Naming choices or quests or areas of interest using your character's name or created by you are certainly possibilities. You will also receive credit on the website. Unfortunately, we cannot give you other free items in the game as it would impact the player-run economy, which we are strongly trying to avoid. We are open to other ideas as long as they do not impact gameplay.

What if I'm another shard owner who wants to merge my team with yours?
If you feel that you can contribute to such a great extent that you require more compensation for your services, please discuss this with Safera before registering. We have organized trading of services in the past amongst other things. We also have a unique idea in place to allow more control for individual design teams if you are looking to merge an entire shard. Get in touch with Safera; I'm sure we can work something out.

What if I'm a C# scriptor who can create any script your heart desires?
We are certainly looking for programmers proficient in C# and familiar with RunUO. If you are a superb scriptor, we may be able to organize a partnership or other out-of-game compensation. Please contact Safera with your interest.

If you are still interested in becoming a part of this project, please Register for the Forums or contact Safera (Please fix email accordingly, no spaces and add a .com at the end. This is set to prevent spam. Please don't assume I have received your email if you haven't heard back from me.) Safera is also available on Skype at Safera92 or available via PM at both RunUO and ServUO.

Atlantis

For thousands of years the former glory of Atlantis lay sunken on the ocean floor, and it faded into myth. Many have sought the legendary island, but none found it - until now. Brave heroes follow the hints gleaned from an expedition and set off on an old path, the road to Ashraya.

Ashraya is where the Atlanteans fled when their home sank below the waves; it is a shimmer of hope in the deep. Those found worthy of passing through the Gorgon Gate will strike upon the last of the Atlanteans there, and with the knowledge of a path leading to the old port of Atlantis, which is now a Ship Graveyard and the home of the subjugated Zorlobb and Jabbax.

In the heart of Atlantis daring wanderers can explore the old sovereign quarters, now filled with the horrible Gorgons. The purpose of the expedition lies in the Temple district, where sea god Oceanos is grappling with the snake Gorga in eternal battle.

"The temple of Atlantis once shone brightly with wisdom, yet when the rulers raised themselves above it, a bottomless abyss opened into infinitely dark depths."

Mount Gloom
Mount Gloom

At some point in the distant past some Dwarves turned their backs on the fire god Fyrgon, instead giving their adulation to the dragon. And thus began the War of the Dwarves, which still rages even today.

The original name of the valley is long forgotten, but the two gigantic defensive walls facing it are much more difficult to ignore. The low rumble of war machines, dutifully repelled by the opposing side thousands of times, gave the Thunder Crest its new name. The metal scrap that has piled up over the centuries has turned the space between the walls into a field of death.

Behind the wall is Stalgard Fortress, where the Evil Dwarves work on their war machines with fanatical efficiency. Yet some outside force seems to have affected the Dwarves' usual zealousness, and the tides of war are turning in favor of the Evil Dwarves. What is this project they're working so hard to complete?

"It has been a long, long time since one side or the other gave up even an inch of ground to the other... until now."
Iron Shield
Iron Shield

The legends tell of brave Dwarven veterans who, even in the age before the empire, climbed the highest mountains of the north to protect humans from the dragon with their signal fires and turrets.

An icy wind blows in the High Mountains of Myrdosch, so the Dwarves who live there have arranged their homes to honor the fire god and stay warm and cozy, of course.

The many forges and workshops of the Dwarven capital of Andrakasch primarily produce what the soldiers need to protect the frontlines. After two thousand years of war with the Evil Dwarves, there's little that shocks the Dwarves. Still, the dark shadows of long dormant enemies that circle on the horizon make them deeply uneasy. It looks like a new storm is brewing.

"They're cultivating those enormous gems! Is that boundless patience, flat-out stubbornness, or pure greed?"
